Election of Directors

If you are actively involved in our chapter and interested in making a deeper commitment in order to help shape our future, consider running for a seat on our Board of Directors.

The Greater Los Angeles Chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI-GLAC) is now inviting nominations for available board seats. The deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The ballot will be approved by the Board in August and distributed to the membership at least 30 days prior to our annual meeting on September 27, 2024. The polls will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, so results can be announced on Friday, September 27, 2024, in conjunction with the Annual Meeting at the Community Expo.

The term is for three (3) years to begin January 1, 2025.

Four (4) board seats are available:

  • Up to two (2) Business Partners
  • Up to two (2) Managers
  • At least one (1) Homeowner Leader

The requirements and qualifications for board service are listed below. If you would like to be considered for placement on the ballot, please follow the application procedure.

Application Procedure
Individuals interested in serving on the Chapter's Board must submit a Nomination Form with a head shot, brief biography, and a description of why they would like to be a Chapter Board Director and what valuable qualities and talents they would bring to the Board as a Director. These must be uploaded to the Inspector of Election platform no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

The Nominating Committee will determine if candidates meet the basic qualifications. The names of qualified candidates will be placed on the ballot.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates eligible for election to the Board of Directors must:
1. Have been Chapter members in good standing for at least two (2) years;
2. Be regular attendees at Chapter events;
3. Have actively served on at least one Chapter committee within the year of nomination, or otherwise served consistently as a speaker at Chapter programs or contributor of articles to FOCUS Magazine;
and
4. Have a demonstrable record of both leadership ability and an ability to work with people.

Homeowner Leader candidates should have performed successfully on their own association's board and attended or participated in CAI-sponsored education programs.

Board Service Requirements
Board service requires a commitment to attend at least 10 (of 12) regularly scheduled meetings each year as well as an ability to perform additional Chapter service each month and attend the majority of Chapter events. Furthermore, only Chapter members in good standing are eligible for nomination to the Board of Directors.

Board Composition
The Board's 11 members in 2025 are responsible for the Chapter's policy and governance and reflect CAI's multi-disciplinary membership with at least two (2) Homeowner Leaders; two (2) Community Association Managers or Management Company representatives; two (2) Business Partners; and five (5) At-Large Members. Furthermore, no one representation group may comprise more than 50% of the board. To ensure there is equitable representation on the Board, only one representative (including principals and employees) from a member firm, association, company, or organization is eligible to run for, or sit on, the Board at any one time.
